Crocheting With Raffia--A Messenger Bag

This gurl has been wantin' to try croshayin' with raffia for a while now.

I purchased some raffia spools from here.
They're reasonably priced at $3.26 a spool and come in a variety of colors.
Each spool has 100 yards.  I used almost 4 spools on this bag.
You can order the matte or a pearlized type.  I chose matte.
( I'm not promotin' them.  Just providin' the link in case you want to try raffia.)

It has a light waxy feel to it so it's really easy to crochet with.

I winged it with the cross stitch rose design.
No pattern, just chose the cotton yarn colors I wanted and started stitchin.

I started with this bag pattern because I wanted a the bag to have a flat bottom and then changed the strap because I wanted more of a messenger type of bag.

I think the strap should be a bit shorter as raffia tends to stretch.

I'm happy with how it turned out and can't wait to make myself a hat with raffia.
